PRIMARY HELICOPTER FLIGHT TRAINING
Magnum Copters is proud to offer primary helicopter flight training held to elite standards. Our pilots are passionate about what they teach, and want to fuel their students with that same passion. We have a one-on-one learning environment to ensure each student fully comprehends the material they are learning, making a less intimidating learning environment for students. While most flight schools choose to train in an R22, we chose to train in an R44 for numerous reasons.
PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE
Receiving your private pilot license (PPL) is the initial step to flying helicopters, whether it be for work or as a hobby. You will need additional ratings for more leisure with your rating, as you cannot fly in poor weather conditions or charge for services, but these additional ratings build off the PPL. FAA flight hour minimums for your private rating: 40 hours of flight time including: 20 hours of flight instruction, 10 hours of solo time, 3 hours of cross country, 3 hours of night flight
Our commercial add-on training continues a private pilot’s training by holding a pilot to higher standards and more precision while flying. This certificate allows you to offer flights and your pilot service for hire, and is necessary to obtain your CFI. FAA flight hour minimums for a commercial rating: 150 flight hours consisting of at least: 100 hours in powered aircraft, 50 hours in helicopters, 10 hours cross country in helicopters, and 20 hours training in specific areas.
CFI: CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR
Becoming a CFI extends your expertise to those passionate about becoming a pilot. Our pilots are held to the highest standards to ensure your training will be safe and efficient. FAA flight hour minimums for CFI: approximately 10 hours training in the left seat.
IFR: INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES
Learning to fly based on your instruments is vital in order to fly in unfavorable weather conditions. Although this add-on is not necessary, it is highly suggested to improve a pilot’s skills, and makes you a more appealing pilot to future employers. FAA flight hour minimums for IFR: 15 hours of cross country flights.
CFI II: CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENT
A CFII is the highest level of flight instruction. You are capable of teaching students all basic levels of training at this level. This rating will also assist you with mastering the fundamentals of flight, whether in VFR or IFR conditions. FAA flight hour minimums for CFII: approximately 10 hours training in the left seat.
Has it been a while since you’ve flown? Our recurrent training refreshes pilot’s knowledge over FAA regulations and keeps their operating procedures and flying skills current.
